About Us & Our Project!

First Off: The ESLP

The ESL Projects stand for Ecology Service Learning Project, AKA, giving back to the Earth as well as learning something in the process. The project allows students to create and develop their own garden-based project and answer prompted questions from themselves and their teacher.

For our final ESLP, we decided to touch up a few benches at our school with new paint.

Previous Projects

Our three previous projects were successes, and required the same skills for this project. For our first project, we decided to build a bench. For our second project, we painted a four-part mural. For our third project, we painted a sign for the Hummingbird Garden in front of the Mickey Long Center at WGHS. Overall, those were very interesting and fun projects to work with. Due to our last few projects, we've had practice with woodworking and painting.

Student Bios

Leah Chiponis, 9th Grade
My name is Leah Chiponis, and I was born in San Jose, California. I have lived in San Jose my whole life, and I have a bit of experience with woodworking and painting from my past three ESLP's. All were very enjoyable, and I'm sure that this project will be just as fun. As life goes on, I am looking forward to having more experience and creating new things.

Sydney Stitt, 9th Grade
My name is Sydney Stitt, and I'm originally from Hunan, China. I moved to San Jose, California when I was 16 months old. I've always loved painting and design, though I will admit I don't have that much experience (besides my past three projects) with woodworking. I'm excited to begin this project, as the past two have taught me so much about design and woodworking.
